Israeli Ambassador Slams New York Times: ‘Cesspool of Hostility to Israel,’ ‘Safe Space for Those Who Hate the Jewish State’

The Israeli ambassador to the United States minced no words while criticizing the New York Times as a home for antisemitism in American media in a speech on Monday.

“We have… seen one of the world’s most prestigious newspapers become a cesspool of hostility towards Israel that goes well beyond any legitimate criticism of a fellow, imperfect democracy,” Ron Dermer said in his Monday speech honoring Holocaust Remembrance Day, according to the Times of Israel.

“The same New York Times that a century ago mostly hid from their readers the Holocaust of the Jewish people has today made its pages a safe space for those who hate the Jewish state,” Dermer added. “Through biased coverage, slanderous columns and anti-Semitic cartoons, its editors shamefully choose week after week to cast the Jewish state as a force for evil.”

The Times has come under serious criticism since it published an antisemitic cartoon last week. It later retracted the cartoon and, after initially not apologizing in the wake of the retraction, it later apologized–a full day after the initial retraction. A second anti-Israel cartoon published on Saturday similarly came under scrutiny on Monday, as several top Jewish community leaders have blasted it and demanded another retraction and apology. In Midst of Apology for Anti-Semitic Cartoon, New York Times Publishes Yet Another

Twitter/@JGreenblattADL

by Jackson Richman, JNS

Andrea Levin, president and executive director of CAMERA, told JNS it is “striking” that the Times would publish another cartoon that denigrates Netanyahu just days after the latest firestorm.

Despite apologizing on Sunday for running an anti-Semitic cartoon that ran in its international edition on Thursday, The New York Times published another anti-Semitic cartoon in the same edition over the weekend.

The weekend cartoon by Norwegian cartoonist Roar Hagen depicts Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with sinister eyes taking a picture of himself with a selfie-stick, carrying in what appears to be an empty desert a tablet featuring the Israeli flag painted on it.

The cartoon also resembles a different one from the same cartoonist featuring Netanyahu carrying a tablet that resembles the Ten Commandments, which the Israelites received in the desert after fleeing their enslaved lives in Egypt, in what appears to be a desert being followed by a sinister-looking U.S. President Donald Trump, both walking in the opposite parallel of a directional sign marked “Golan,” a reference to the Golan Heights.

Trump officially recognized Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan last month.

The Times did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Thursday’s cartoon featured U.S. President Donald Trump wearing a yarmulke, sporting dark-tinted glasses and being led by a dog with the face of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with a large blue Star of David hanging from its collar.

On Sunday, the publication said that it was “deeply sorry,” and that it “investigated how this happened and learned that, because of a faulty process, a single editor working without adequate oversight downloaded the syndicated cartoon and made the decision to include it on the Opinion page. The matter remains under review, and we are evaluating our internal processes and training. We anticipate significant changes.”

Fake News is Now EVIL News at the New York Times

New York Times Publishes Antisemitic, ‘Offensive’ Cartoon, Fails to Apologize.

In Thursday’s international edition of The New York Times, a cartoon with “anti-Semitic tropes” was published that portrayed a blind President Trump led by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu depicted as a dog with a Star of David collar around its neck.

The cartoon appeared in the April 25 international edition and coincided with the end of the Passover holiday and Shabbat, two days many observant Jews were not online.

The cartoon was quickly criticized by several social media users. Read the rest of this article HERE.

A leading American Jewish organization refuses to accept the New York Times apology over a ‘deeply anti-Semitic’ cartoon.

The Media Just Can’t Stop Lying About Trump

June 28, 2018
By John Lott Jr • The Hill

President Trump’s half hour, impromptu interview on “Fox & Friends” last Friday sent the media’s fact checkers into overdrive this weekend. Everyone from PolitiFact to The New York Times to virtually all the Sunday morning national talk shows piled on, calling Trump a liar.

But the media can’t stop lying about what the president says. Sometimes it can’t distinguish a legitimate point of disagreement from a lie. It is no wonder that people have tuned out much of the constant attacks on Trump.

Just take the hyperbole on Sunday’s Meet the Press. Before playing a compilation of clips from Trump’s interview, moderator Chuck Todd exclaimed: “Let me put together this list of just outright misstatements, lies.” After showing the clips, Todd felt it necessary to emphasize yet again that everyone knew the statements were false: “Every single one of those things is absolutely not true.”

The show had on two liberal and two conservative panelists, but it wasn’t real balance as the conservatives were both “never Trumpers.” The guests debated whether Trump was simply lying or whether he lacked the “mental capacity” to know that he was spewing falsehoods.

So let’s review the first three statements that Todd claims are false. Then we’ll look at the one that he says is the “most ridiculous” of all. Read more HERE.

NYT Says Border at ‘Breaking Point’ 1 Month After ‘Fact Check’ Claimed No Emergency

by John Nolte

One month after claiming there is “no emergency” at the border, the far-left New York Times now concedes the border is at a “breaking point.”

In real time, as President Trump gave his State of the Union speech last month, the Times branded the president a liar over his claim that there is an “urgent national crisis” at our border.

“This is false,” the Times told its readers, using a non sequitur about individuals attempting to cross the border, while admitting — at the bottom of the fact check —  that a “record number of families have tried to cross the border in recent months.”

At the time, this phony fact check was widely ridiculed for its absurd attempt to hide the fact that a “record number of families” stressing the resources of our southern border does not somehow constitute a legitimate crisis, and now, almost exactly a month later, this very same Times is reporting our border is at a “breaking point.”

“The number of migrant families crossing the southwest border has once again broken records, with unauthorized entries nearly doubling what they were a year ago, suggesting that the Trump administration’s aggressive policies have not discouraged new migration to the United States,” the Times reports. #Resistance Jumped Shark 9 Times This Week to Fabricate Trump Crisis

AFP/NICHOLAS KAMM

Written on Saturday, September 8, 2018 by John Nolte:

As President Trump continues to deliver peace and prosperity for the first time since September 11, 2001, the increasingly hysterical, outraged, and desperate Resistance could not stop jumping the shark this week.

These awful people are really, really, really hoping to con prospering Americans into believing something as shallow and meaningless as Trump’s management style is some sort of national emergency.

While Trump continues to make the kind of sound decisions that (among many other things) have turned around our economy, put two superb justices on the Supreme Court (Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation seems secure), reigns in Putin and North Korea, and have all but wiped out ISIS, all these sore losers, grifters, and left-wing liars have to attack him with is his unorthodox management style.

What they do not want you focused on, especially with the midterm elections weeks away, are the unprecedented results of Trump’s “chaotic” management style [emphasis mine], results that have lowered black and Hispanic unemployment to record levels, brought manufacturing back to the Rust Belt, and made the endless War on Terror feel like a bad memory.

This week was especially bad for the crybabies. As Trump racked up a successful confirmation hearing for Kavanaugh and the kind of economic news the media assured us was no longer possible, the pitiful and certifiably insane Resistance went shark jumping on at least nine occasions… Read about all nine at breitbart.com.

Pollak: The Attack on Alex Jones Is An Attack on Free Speech

We YOU need your help. This is a frontal assault on our YOUR free speech.

InfoWars/YouTube, Josh Edelson/AFP/Getty, Justin Sullivan/Getty

by Joel B. Pollak:

Internet provocateur and InfoWars proprietor Alex Jones is being systematically excluded from social media platforms. This is, plainly, an attack on free speech.

Over the weekend, Facebook removed several Alex Jones-related pages, and Apple deleted many of his podcasts. On Monday, YouTube followed suit by deleting his video channel. Pinterest closed its InfoWars page. Twitter may soon do the same.

The timing is no coincidence: all of these outlets are responding to a campaign by left-wing activists who are determined to shut down conservative voices — including Breitbart.

It is a shameful effort — which is why some of those responsible for the boycotts have tried to maintain their anonymity.

Today, they are circulating “copy/paste” talking points that argue they are not abusing freedom of speech or the press by pushing companies to ban Jones, because “free speech protects you from your government.” Jones is being censored by private companies, not the government. He has no right, after all, to force anyone to carry his content.

It is true that the First Amendment is not implicated by private censorship, but free speech certainly is damaged by it.

From the point of view of the person being silenced, it makes absolutely no difference whether the censor is a policeman or a mob. And freedom of speech is a social value, a characteristic of an open and democratic society that has exists quite independently of the government. It is — or ought to be — sustained by civil society, even and especially when the views expressed are objectionable. Read the rest of this article HERE.

Judge Jeanine to NY Times: Stop Your Resistance or Get Outta the Way

Saturday on Fox News Channel’s Justice With Judge Jeanine, host, Judge Jeanine Pirro blasted the New York Times over the famous (now infamous) Gray Lady’s latest editorial board hire.

Here are a couple of excerpts from Judge Jeanine’s opening statement:

You know, there are no secrets anymore. The New York Times which we all knew bent over backwards to lean left is now officially a leftist, progressive, socialist newspaper. There is no objective journalism anymore. It is a newspaper for a certain mindset only. They as much as admitted it this week when, when their latest editorial board hire Sarah Jong, an Asian woman is outed for her cop hating, Caucasian hating, male hating, social media messages, the Grey Lady responds with a what difference does it make answer. and the Washington Post poo-poos the hate with this namby-pamby headline: Is it okay to make fun of white people online? as if the police or we should kill all men is humouous?

***

The newspaper that is always prided itself on being there for the forgotten, and I’m being open-minded, fair-handed, and at the citadel of the newspaper publishing world, is now admitting to its own hypocrisy by defending Jeong they’re saying it’s okay to be racist if your target is white.

Opinion – A Liberal’s Case for Brett Kavanaugh

By Akhil Reed Amar

The nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to be the next Supreme Court justice is President Trump’s finest hour, his classiest move. Last week the president promised to select “someone with impeccable credentials, great intellect, unbiased judgment, and deep reverence for the laws and Constitution of the United States.” In picking Judge Kavanaugh, he has done just that.

In 2016, I strongly supported Hillary Clinton for president as well as President Barack Obama’s nominee for the Supreme Court, Judge Merrick Garland. But today, with the exception of the current justices and Judge Garland, it is hard to name anyone with judicial credentials as strong as those of Judge Kavanaugh. He sits on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit (the most influential circuit court) and commands wide and deep respect among scholars, lawyers and jurists.

Judge Kavanaugh, who is 53, has already helped decide hundreds of cases concerning a broad range of difficult issues. Good appellate judges faithfully follow the Supreme Court; great ones influence and help steer it. Several of Judge Kavanaugh’s most important ideas and arguments — such as his powerful defense of presidential authority to oversee federal bureaucrats and his skepticism about newfangled attacks on the property rights of criminal defendants — have found their way into Supreme Court opinions.
