Tucker Carlson Vows to Never Bow to the Leftist Mob

Tucker Carlson: We will never bow to the leftist mob’s attempts to silence us, no matter what.

As anyone who has ever been caught in its gears can tell you, the great American outrage machine is a remarkable thing. One day you’re having dinner with your family, imagining everything is fine. The next, your phone is exploding with calls from reporters.

They read you snippets from a press release written by Democratic Party operatives. They demand to know how you could possibly have said something so awful and offensive, and ask something like, “Do you have a statement on how immoral you are?” It’s a bewildering moment, especially when the quotes in question are more than a decade old.

There’s really not that much you can do to respond. It’s pointless to try to explain how the words were spoken in jest or taken out of context, or in any case, bear no resemblance to what you actually think or would want for the country. None of that matters. Nobody cares. You know the role you’re required to play. You are a sinner that needs the forgiveness of Twitter.

So you issue a statement of deep contrition. You apologize profusely for your transgressions. You promise to be a better person going forward with the guidance of your contrition consultants. You send money to whatever organization that claims to represent the people you supposedly offended. Then you sit back, and brace for a wave of stories about your apology, all of which simply provide a pretext for attacking you again.

In the end, you get fired, you lose your job. Nobody defends you. Your neighbors avert their gaze as you pull into the driveway. You are ruined. And yet, no matter how bad it gets, no matter how despised and humiliated you may be, there is one thing you can never do — one thing that is absolutely not allowed. You can never acknowledge the comic absurdity of the whole thing. You can never laugh in the face of the mob.

Since the day we went on the air, they [the left] have been working hard to kill this show. We haven’t said much about it in public; it seemed too self- referential. The point of this show has never been us. But now, it’s obvious to everybody. There is no pretending that it is not happening. It is happening, and so, going forward, we’ll be covering their efforts to make us be quiet.

Pollak: The Attack on Alex Jones Is An Attack on Free Speech

We YOU need your help. This is a frontal assault on our YOUR free speech.

by Joel B. Pollak:

Internet provocateur and InfoWars proprietor Alex Jones is being systematically excluded from social media platforms. This is, plainly, an attack on free speech.

Over the weekend, Facebook removed several Alex Jones-related pages, and Apple deleted many of his podcasts. On Monday, YouTube followed suit by deleting his video channel. Pinterest closed its InfoWars page. Twitter may soon do the same.

The timing is no coincidence: all of these outlets are responding to a campaign by left-wing activists who are determined to shut down conservative voices — including Breitbart.

It is a shameful effort — which is why some of those responsible for the boycotts have tried to maintain their anonymity.

Today, they are circulating “copy/paste” talking points that argue they are not abusing freedom of speech or the press by pushing companies to ban Jones, because “free speech protects you from your government.” Jones is being censored by private companies, not the government. He has no right, after all, to force anyone to carry his content.

It is true that the First Amendment is not implicated by private censorship, but free speech certainly is damaged by it.

From the point of view of the person being silenced, it makes absolutely no difference whether the censor is a policeman or a mob. And freedom of speech is a social value, a characteristic of an open and democratic society that has exists quite independently of the government. It is — or ought to be — sustained by civil society, even and especially when the views expressed are objectionable. Read the rest of this article HERE.

‘Free Speech Is Dead’ – Police in Khan’s London BAN Pro-Trump Rally at U.S. Embassy

by Jack Montgomery

Police in Sadiq Khan’s London have used the Public Order Act to prevent a rally in support of U.S. President Donald Trump outside the American embassy, despite permitting a large, ill-tempered anti-Trump rally on Friday.

Protestors attending the ‘Welcome Trump’ event had planned to gather outside the embassy and march from there to Whitehall, where they would have joined in with a separate ‘Free Tommy Robinson’ event in support of the activist and independent journalist who was recently imprisoned for contempt of court after reporting on a grooming gang trial.

But the Metropolitan Police Force, which answers to a large extent to Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, used the Public Order Act to impose a raft of restrictions on both groups of protesters which made this impossible —  despite allowing far larger anti-Trump protests at which at least six people were arrested to go ahead on Saturday, with demonstrators carrying signs emblazoned with harsh profanity and messages such as “Die Trump Die”.

“I was planning to go to the American embassy to meet with a group of demonstrators who are planning to welcome Trump into the country… it’s really good to see him in this country, and speaking truth to the people in power in this country,” explained David Kurten, an elected member of the London Assembly for the Brexit-supporting UK Independence Party. The Swamp Just Bounced Trump Into A European-Style Assault on Free Speech

Many Americans don’t seem to appreciate as much as outside admirers do, that the United States is the only country in the world with a commitment to free speech enshrined in the nation’s Constitution. Many nations do not even have codified constitution of which to speak.

Which is why it is almost more egregious to the outsider than the American that such protections are under assault, not just on the streets of Berkeley or Charlottesville, but in your legislature — and soon in your Oval Office.

This afternoon, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed President Trump would “absolutely” be signing a resolution drafted by Republican and Democrat lawmakers “condemning” hatred.

“He and [Senator Tim Scott] talked about that and discussed that and agreed that that was the appropriate place to be,” Sanders said. “In terms of whether or not he’ll sign the joint resolution, absolutely, and he looks forward to doing so as soon as he receives it.”

But the resolution is manifestly a ruse — the first line of attack in a new wave of assaults against free speech in America.

Let’s examine what the motion, passed by both legislative chambers early this week, says. Read the rest of the article here

The preamble, in addition to expressing “support for the Charlottesville community,” demands of the President that he rejects “White nationalists, White supremacists, the Ku Klux Klan, neo-Nazis, and other hate groups” and urges him and his cabinet to “use all available resources to address the threats posed by those groups”.

From the outset this is disingenuous and troublesome.

The President has already disavowed these groups, including Neo Nazis and the KKK. Why are elected members, alongside the White House, wasting time virtue signaling over it?

Perhaps because it backs POTUS into a corner, especially when you consider many establishment media organizations call his former Chief Strategist Stephen K. Bannon — who has mocked and derided ethno-nationalists — a “white nationalist” or “white supremacist”. This week, ESPN even let one of its hosts off with no more than a slapped wrist for suggesting the President himself was a “white supremacist”.

So by whose definitions are we going? And what exactly does “use all available resources” mean?

The President and his cabinet ostensibly have all resources available to them. The U.S. military, trillions of dollars, three and a half years of power. To what is the President subscribing?

Whatever happened to the old line by Voltaire, “Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so too”, or as it was paraphrased by Evelyn Beatrice Hall writing under the pseudonym S.G. Tallentyre in Friends of Voltaire: “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it”?

Personally, I believe sunlight is the best disinfectant for hateful beliefs. Read the rest of this article HERE.

Monuments Madness, Phase II: The Right Begins Self-Censoring

Josh Edelson / Associated Press

By Amanda House

Threats of violence and fears of the label “racist” spur conservatives to self-censor. Local law enforcement officers and conservative organizers continue to shut down or cancel peaceful free speech events after the left labels them “white supremacist” rallies.

The targeting of free speech and America’s past began long before the violence in Charlottesville and long before Donald Trump won the presidency. This has nothing to do with the Confederacy or a resurgence of white supremacists. This is basic iconoclasm, with cultural revolutionaries directing their hatred at a politically-anointed totem.

We’ve seen this trend throughout history: aggressive rejection of the status quo. It’s a common component of major – usually radical – political and cultural change, just like international movements, from China’s cultural revolution in the ’60s and ’70s – which left 1.5 million people dead – to the Taliban’s destruction of centuries-old Buddhist statues and the Islamic State’s ongoing devastation of ancient sites. This iconoclastic sentiment – a groupthink fever spreading relatively unchecked – now infects America. First, the herd goes for the statues. Then comes the book burning. Eventually, we see the targeting of individuals and their freedoms. The tactics are totalitarian, the monuments, simply weapons to attack the First Amendment. Continue reading at breitbart.com.

Ben Shapiro Stormed Congress and Blew the Left’s Argument Against Free Speech to Smithereens

Here’s the key — “You don’t actually have to say anything insulting to microaggress. Somebody merely needs to take offense.” – Ben Shapiro

By Tyler O’Neil

On Thursday, Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro testified about free speech on college campuses before the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. In less than five minutes, he dissected and destroyed the Left’s argument against free speech.

“Free speech is under assault because of a three-step argument made by advocates and justifiers of violence,” Shapiro declared in his opening remarks. “The first step is they say that the validity or invalidity of an argument can be judged solely by the ethnic, sexual, racial, or cultural identity of the person making the argument.”

This “intersectionality” argument — that society structurally oppresses people of ethnic, sexual, racial, or cultural identities and therefore only those who have been oppressed can speak about certain issues — is the ground of the “microaggression” culture stifling speech on campuses, the Daily Wire editor argued.

“The second step is they claim that those who say otherwise are engaged in what they call verbal violence,” Sharipo added. “The final step is that they conclude that physical violence is sometimes justified in order to stop such verbal abuse.”

In order to understand how college campuses shut down speech — often but not always conservative speech — Americans must understand the philosophy of “intersectionality.” Shapiro argued that this philosophy dominates college campuses and “a large segment of today’s Democratic Party.” Continue reading at pjmedia.com.

FEC Republican Blasts Commission for Chilling Free Speech

“Conservatives and liberals alike have cause to be concerned about money in politics, but there are ways to go about reforming the system without dismantling the Constitution. And if it comes down to a choice between “too much money” and “too little freedom of speech,” well…that’s no choice at all.”

Free SpeechLee Goodman, one of three Republicans who sit on the Federal Election Commission, says that the three Democrats on the FEC – if left unchecked – would destroy the free American press. In a statement criticizing the Democrats for their vote last month to punish documentary filmmaker Joel Gilbert, Goodman said that if Ann Ravel, Steven Walther, and Ellen Weintraub had their way, sites like the Drudge Report would become relics of the past.

Their votes, wrote Goodman, “signal an active regulatory effort within the agency, caution press organizations to look over their shoulders, and chill the free exercise of press activity.”

Meanwhile, the Democrats claim that by supporting Gilbert’s film, Republicans are essentially throwing campaign finance regulations to the wind. “Press entities do not act as press entities when they distribute millions of free DVDs immediately before an election solely in electoral swing states,” said Weintraub.

The subject of the vote was a film called “Dreams From My Real Father,” a free documentary that was distributed to voters in Ohio prior to the 2012 presidential elections. The film made the claim that Barack Obama’s real father was a Communist named Frank Marshall Davis whose radical activism shaped the young president’s worldview. Two years later, Loren Collins filed an FEC complaint against Gilbert. – Continue reading at fixthisnation.com.
