Ron DeSantis Takes on the BDS Movement

By Caroline Glick

“If you openly support BDS in Florida, you’re dead, politically.”

That was Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s conclusion from the surprisingly large role the issue of the antisemitic “boycott, divestment and sanctions” (BDS) campaign against Israel played in his close race against Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum in Floridan’s gubernatorial election last November.

DeSantis edged out the hardcore progressive Democrat by a mere 0.4 percent, or 32,000 votes.

DeSantis made the remark during the course of his official visit to Israel last week. He led a massive trade mission of Florida business leaders, cabinet secretaries, and university presidents on a five-day trip to the Jewish state. During the course of the mission, Florida universities signed collaboration agreements with Israeli universities spanning a vast spectrum of undertakings from water purification to space research.

The mission merged the twin goals of increasing Florida-Israel economic, academic and commercial ties; and fighting anti-Semitism generally, and the BDS campaign against Israel specifically. Its success was a stunning expression of DeSantis’s state government’s friendship with Israel. It also placed the sharp contrast between progressive Democrats — like his opponent, Gillum — and DeSantis in stark relief. Read the rest HERE.

Migrants? Not in OUR Back Yard

Ron DeSantis: Dumping Migrants in Florida is Unacceptable

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida’s governor plans to fight a federal plan to fly hundreds of immigrants from the Mexican border to two South Florida counties, saying Friday he’ll take his case to President Donald Trump.

Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis made his remarks a day after being caught off guard when Broward and Palm Beach county officials said they were notified by U.S. Border Patrol that more than a 100 immigrants would be sent weekly to each of the counties starting in about two weeks.

“We cannot accommodate in Florida just dumping unlawful migrants into our state. I think it will tax our resources, the schools, the health care, law enforcement, state agencies,” DeSantis told reporters in Sarasota after a bill signing ceremony. Read more HERE.

UPDATE: Border Patrol Official: Migrants Won’t Be Sent to Florida ‘at this Time’ Following Blowback

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) official said late Friday that plans to send migrant families to South Florida have been put on hold temporarily following a backlash from state lawmakers.

The development came after Broward and Palm Beach county officials said they were notified by U.S. Border Patrol that more than a 100 immigrants would be sent weekly to each of the counties starting in the next two weeks. According to NPR, the official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the agency will not be “transporting any family units to Florida at this time,” but left the door open to “possibly housing and processing migrants at other U.S. Border Patrol sectors across the nation.” Read more HERE.

Florida Official Overseeing Vote Count Destroyed Ballots, Accused of Not Removing Dead Voters from Rolls

The Florida official put in charge of counting votes in Broward County — the most liberal county in the state — for the gubernatorial and Senate race previously destroyed voter ballots, a judge ruled, and was most recently accused of not removing dead voters from the voter rolls.

Broward County Board of Elections Supervisor Brenda Snipes is in charge of vote counting in the area and has yet to disclose how many ballots are still not counted despite the election for governor and Senate occurring two days ago.

Currently, in the Senate race, Republican Rick Scott is leading Democrat incumbent Bill Nelson by more than 20,000 votes. Nelson is hoping for a blowout in Broward County to push him over the edge for re-election.

Snipes was confronted by local media about why the vote count in Broward County has taken so long.

Gillum Makes Promises He Can’t Keep, “that’s not for [voters] to know” Says Campaign Staff in Undercover Video

  • Empty Promises Exposed: “Fairy tales in the modern day begin with ‘once I am elected.’”
  • Deceiving Voters: “None of the programs that people are hoping for would happen” but “That’s not for [voters] to know.”
  • Candidate’s True Politics: “Gillum is a Progressive” and “He is a part of the crazy, crazy, crazies.”
  • Election Strategy: “You whip ’em up. The poor, the middle income. You have to whip them up into a frenzy in order for them to vote.”
  • Secret Gun Control Agenda Revealed: “three day waiting period for everybody,” “small steps” to ban assault rifles; “I don’t think he can say it [be]cause he’s trying to get the moderates”
  • Florida is a “F***ed up,” “cracker state,” “you have to appeal to white guilt”

(Tallahassee) Project Veritas Action Fund has released undercover video from Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum’s campaign, revealing his election strategy includes making empty promises to voters. This is the seventh undercover video report Project Veritas has released in a series revealing secrets and lies from political campaigns in 2018.

Said James O’Keefe, founder and president of Project Veritas Action:

“What we found in the Gillum campaign was just what we found in Missouri, Tennessee and Arizona, a candidate lying to the voters he needs to win the election.”

Gillum campaign makes promises it knows it can’t keep

Featured in this report is a campaign staffer who works on Andrew Gillum’s gubernatorial campaign. Omar Smith, who says he went to college with Gillum, reveals Gillum cannot fulfill his campaign promises even if he wanted to.

When asked how Gillum would fund all the programs he says he wants to fund, Smith says Gillum “can’t,” and when asked if voters are aware that Gillum cannot deliver on his proposed programs, Smith says:

SMITH: “That’s not for them to know… That’s not for them to know. Remember our saying, modern day fairy tales start with ‘once I am elected.’”

Smith explains that most of Gillum’s campaign promises could never be implemented, and that the Gillum campaign knows this:

SMITH: “So, let’s go back to Mr. Gillum’s platform, right? Raise the corporate tax in Florida from 7 to 11 percent. That will never happen. Raise teacher’s pay to $50,000, that will never happen. Give me another position. Medicare for all, that will never happen. The reason being, the legislature that write the bills is all Republican controlled. Democratic governor, Republican legislature. So, unless the legislature writes a bill, and it got voted on the floor, it cannot pass.”

Smith says that “the rules in Florida are f***ed up” and that Florida is a “cracker state,” explaining that the Florida legislature has to become racially black for Gillum’s agenda to advance.

“Whip up” the poor into a “frenzy in order for them to vote.”

Smith says that in order to get voters on board with Gillum’s fairy tale platform, the campaign must “whip” lower income individuals “into a frenzy.”

SMITH:  “You whip ’em up. The poor, the middle income. You have to whip them up into a frenzy in order for them to vote. Once Gillum is in, in another 2 years, other Republican Senators and Legislators will be on the ballot. So, you have to whip up the Andrew Gillum voters again in those counties to vote out the Republican to get a Democratic Legislature in order for his (Gillum) will to be executed.”

Smith adds that because not all Democratic voters are the same, that the Gillum campaign needs to appeal to “white guilt” to turn out the vote:

SMITH: “You have to appeal to white guilt… [be]cause that’s what it is.”

Smith also explains that the Gillum campaign can’t let voters know what Gillum’s true agenda is before election day:

SMITH: “… We don’t, do we have to let [the voters] know what the agenda is ahead of time? We can’t… We cannot… You alienate everybody. Then you get painted like, oh, Gillum is being painted, no. You are a socialist, you are way out of left field…”

Gillum Blasts ‘Pig’ Trump After POTUS Says ‘Stone-Cold Thief’ Will Turn FL into Venezuela

by Tony Lee:

Tallahassee Mayor and Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum (D) likened President Donald to a “pig” on Monday evening after Trump again called Gillum a “stone-cold thief” who will turn “Florida into Venezuela.”

Speaking to Fox News host Laura Ingraham, Trump said he did not even think Gillum, whose administration is facing an FBI corruption probe, “should be allowed to continue on with the race.”

“Well, the FBI offered him tickets at $1,800 apiece and he took ‘em,” Trump said, referring to the extremely expensive Hamilton tickets Gillum obtained. “He took a trip with the same FBI agent. I guess he was posing as a developer or something. The man stone-cold took this stuff. I don’t even think he should be allowed to continue on with the race.”

Gillum–who is in a tight race against Republican Ron DeSantis in one of the most important gubernatorial contests of 2018 that will have huge 2020 implications–fired back on Twitter after Trump’s interview aired, asking Floridians to ignore Trump. Read the rest of this article at breitbart.com.

DeSantis Rising: Florida Congressman Now the Sunshine State GOP Gubernatorial Frontrunner

by Jeff Poor

JACKSONVILLE, Florida – With just over a month to go until Florida Republicans vote to select their nominee for the governor’s race, Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is pulling ahead of Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam, according to recent polling data.

Past polling showed DeSantis trailing Putnam by a wide margin. One poll from June 21, conucted by Fox News, had DeSantis down by 15 points.

This month’s polling, however, shows the trend is decidedly in DeSantis’ favor. A survey from Remington Research conducted July 2-5 has DeSantis up 17 points. Another survey conducted by pollster Tony Fabrizio has DeSantis up 12 points.

According to the Real Clear Politics polling average, which includes the Fox News poll showing Putnam with a double-digit lead, DeSantis has a 2.7 percent edge over Putnam as it stands now.

At a campaign meet-and-greet–with a visibly pro-Donald Trump vibe–just south of downtown Jacksonville on Saturday morning, DeSantis offered Breitbart News his reasons for the surge.

“I think it’s a number of things,” he said. “I think it’s a strong contrast between me and my opponent. Adam Putnam is a career politician. He’s been in office since he was 22, and he’s been an insider transactional Republican. I’m somebody who is an Iraq veteran, a military officer – somebody who has really fought entrenched interests and has stood on principle. Those records are clear.”

“He was somebody that was very hostile to Trump down the stretch against Hillary Clinton, and if he had his way, Hillary would have won,” DeSantis added. “I’m somebody that’s been endorsed by the president, so it’s a big contrast.”

Trump has voiced his support for DeSantis on two occasions and going back as far as last December. Read the rest of this article HERE.

A petition was launched seeking full military burial honors for Marjory Stoneman Douglas High student Peter Wang, the JROTC cadet who helped save lives at the cost of his own during the murderous rampage by a fellow student at a Florida high school.

According to other students, the 15-year-old Wang, a member of the school’s JROTC program, “was holding a door to let other students out before him” as alleged attacker Nikolas Cruz aimlessly roamed the halls of the school, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

The young man hoped to attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Wang, who was wearing his JROTC uniform during the assault, was shot and killed after helping others to flee the shooter. Supporters say that the young man “died a hero.”

The petition posted to WhiteHouse.gov is urging the U.S. military to afford the hero a military funeral and asks for Wang to receive full military honors. continue reading this article at breitbart.com and sign the petition HERE.

Florida Lawmakers Introduce Bill Banning ‘Sanctuary’ Cities

AP Photo

By Katherine Rodriguez

Florida Republican lawmakers have introduced legislation that will target “sanctuary” cities and counties, along with the elected officials that support them, that don’t cooperate with federal enforcement of immigration law.

Sen. Aaron Bean (R-Fernandina Beach) and Rep. Larry Metz (R-Yalaha) introduced SB 786 and HB 697, known as the “Rule of Law Adherence Act,” Wednesday in Tallahassee, the Miami Herald reported.

The bills seek to ban “sanctuary policies” in Florida and create fines and penalties for state agencies, local governments, or law enforcement agencies that use these policies and don’t comply with federal immigration law.

“The one thing that everybody should know in our country is: We can’t choose which laws we’ll obey or which laws we don’t obey,” said Bean. Read the rest of this story HERE.

A library in Florida denied a woman’s request to put a New York Times bestselling graphic novel that criticizes Hillary Clinton on its shelves.

The Alachua County Library District denied Alachua County resident Ann Lhota’s request to make Clinton Cash: A Graphic Novel available to borrow.

Clinton Cash: A Graphic Novel is currently the number one New York Times bestselling graphic novel, based off Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large Peter Schweizer’s book Clinton Cash.

Despite the book’s popularity on bestsellers lists and on Amazon, library officials say it is not going to happen.

“We were told, “No, absolutely not; that book will not go on the shelves of the library,’” Ann Lhota said to WUFT-TV. That was 40 days ago. Continue reading at britebart.com.

Jeb Bush Protested by Common Core Opponents in Florida

by Dr. Susan Berry19 Jun 2015116

Opponents of the Common Core standards protested the appearance of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush in Tampa Friday at the Hillsborough County Republican Lincoln Day dinner.

The newly declared 2016 presidential contender was in his home state to address hundreds of people at the fundraising event, reports SaintPetersBlog.

Protesters’s concerns about Common Core ranged from the amount of testing, to federal intrusion in education, to “Common Core math.”

“I’m against anything that nationalizes education,” said Emma Jane Miller, a member of the Hillsborough County Republican Executive Committee who was unhappy with Bush as the choice of keynote at the dinner. “When Jeb Bush left Florida in 2006, he helped create the Foundation for Excellence in Education, and they have done nothing but push Common Core in 45 states.”

Miller said she hopes Common Core opponents will be able to prevent Bush from getting the Republican nomination. Continue reading at breitbart.com.
