    Excellent comments. However, about 65% of the federal government employees that we pay our tax dollars to are nonessential. Just for starters, we could eliminate 100% of the Departments of Education and Energy.

      Very true, as neither department has EVER accomplished their original mission statements. Also, MANY, MANY services are duplicated among various federal agencies and departments, yet we NEVER seem to see any of them close once they’re created. For an easy example, why couldn’t ATF, DEA and FBI all be rolled into one federal law enforcement agency? Here’s a hint — there’s NO reason why not, except proliferation of federal agencies and opportunities for steal from their budgets for personal gain.
