Georgia Southern University Calls Police on Students Exercising Free Speech

Zach Gibson/Getty

Students at Georgia Southern University were confronted by school staff and campus police last week while recruiting members for the Turning Point USA student group on campus. Staff told the conservative students that they needed to “fill out paperwork” in order to exercise free speech at the public university, and then proceeded to call the police when the students did not leave the public grounds.

An administrator at Georgia Southern University (GSU) told students that they needed to “fill out paperwork” in order to exercise free speech within the confines of the school’s designated “free speech zone,” a specific area on campus that school claims is approved for exercising free speech, as long as the space is reserved in advance.

The students, who were recruiting members for their Turning Point USA (TPUSA) chapter, decided not to leave an outdoor area on campus after GSU staff had requested for them to do so, resulting in the police being called as a last-ditch effort to force the students to comply with the school’s perplexing demand.

The apparent intimidation tactic, however, was futile, as the TPUSA students filmed their interaction with the officers, who admitted on video that they could not legally arrest the students for exercising free speech at the publicly-funded university, as seen in a report by Campus Reform.

“I don’t know of any laws you’re breaking,” said one officer, who said he was called by the university to ask the students to leave school property. Read more HERE.

IMPORTANT: Gainesville City Commission Meeting Tonight – GRU

From the Alachua County Republican Executive Committee:

To ACREC members and Concerned GRU Customers,
.
A very important meeting is happening this week at the Gainesville City Commission on Thursday, 3/21, at 6:00 pm and your attendance is requested.  PLEASE ARRIVE BY 5:45 TO GET A SEAT!!  The City is going to take a vote on MORE DEBT!!! They refuse to cut spending on “pet projects.” In summary, the UAB (Utility Advisory Board) had a meeting last Thursday to look at refinancing some existing bond and increasing our debt by another $200 million or so. The bonds would have been paid off over the next 5 years, but the CC (City Commission) doesn’t want to reduce spending to make this happen. So they want to refinance the bonds at a lower initial rate, but based on the repayment schedule GRU will have to increase what it pays back. Basically kicking the can down the road and making the situation worse! The CC is on record talking about the dire consequences of NOT doing the refi as GRU bond rates might get lowered. Well several hours before the meeting GM (General Manager) Ed Bielarski had been notified by the rating agency Fitch that some of GRU’s debt had been downgraded, but did not disclose this fact to the full board, but did share this with Commission Adrian Hayes-Santos and the UAB chair. The UAB voted for the refi and the $200+ million which the CC will be voting on at theThursday evening meeting. Bielarski withheld the news from the UAB board and effectively spun his presentation to make the UAB vote the way he wanted – which is what the CC wanted! So the UAB gives the CC cover for acting fiscally irresponsible AGAIN! (The reason for the downgrade was that GRU has too much debt! GRU needs the $200+ because they have burnt thru significant reserves and they don’t want to reduce the $38 million general fund transfer. The estimates are that they need to cut the budget by $12 million or by some number and raise taxes. They hate the word bankruptcy, but the debt is going to consume ever larger chunks of GRU cash flow and insolvency is a very real possibility!
.
Filling the chamber is necessary to help stop the City Commission from taking GRU deeper into debt in the wake of a downgrade that was concealed from the public. You don’t have speak if you don’t want to, you can just echo what Wilbur Holloway, Nathan Skop and other GRU customers are going to say. If you want to speak, the leaders of our ACREC Local Government Affairs Committee (Wilbur Holloway and Darlene Pifalo) will be able to . This is another BAD DEAL for GRU customers! A lower credit rating hurts GRU customers!!
.
PLEASE COME AND BRING A FRIEND OR NEIGHBOR!!!!
We need as many people as possible!!!
STOP the Gainesville City Commission for taking GRU even deeper into debt.
.
Meeting Location:
City Hall
200 E. University Avenue, Gainesville

The Media Just Can’t Stop Lying About Trump

June 28, 2018
By John Lott Jr • The Hill

President Trump’s half hour, impromptu interview on “Fox & Friends” last Friday sent the media’s fact checkers into overdrive this weekend. Everyone from PolitiFact to The New York Times to virtually all the Sunday morning national talk shows piled on, calling Trump a liar.

But the media can’t stop lying about what the president says. Sometimes it can’t distinguish a legitimate point of disagreement from a lie. It is no wonder that people have tuned out much of the constant attacks on Trump.

Just take the hyperbole on Sunday’s Meet the Press. Before playing a compilation of clips from Trump’s interview, moderator Chuck Todd exclaimed: “Let me put together this list of just outright misstatements, lies.” After showing the clips, Todd felt it necessary to emphasize yet again that everyone knew the statements were false: “Every single one of those things is absolutely not true.”

The show had on two liberal and two conservative panelists, but it wasn’t real balance as the conservatives were both “never Trumpers.” The guests debated whether Trump was simply lying or whether he lacked the “mental capacity” to know that he was spewing falsehoods.

So let’s review the first three statements that Todd claims are false. Then we’ll look at the one that he says is the “most ridiculous” of all. Read more HERE.

Rep. Devin Nunes Files Major Lawsuit Against Twitter

By Gregg Re, Catherine Herridge | Fox News

California GOP Rep. Devin Nunes filed a major lawsuit seeking $250 million in compensatory damages and $350,000 in punitive damages against Twitter and a handful of its users on Monday, accusing the social media site of “shadow-banning conservatives” including himself to influence the 2018 elections, systematically censoring opposing viewpoints and totally “ignoring” lawful complaints of repeated abusive behavior.

In a complaint filed in Virginia state court on Monday, obtained by Fox News, Nunes claimed Twitter wanted to derail his work on the House Intelligence Committee, which he chaired until 2019, as he looked into alleged and apparent surveillance abuses by the government. Nunes said Twitter was guilty of “knowingly hosting and monetizing content that is clearly abusive, hateful and defamatory – providing both a voice and financial incentive to the defamers – thereby facilitating defamation on its platform.”

The lawsuit alleged defamation, conspiracy and negligence, and sought not only damages, but also an injunction compelling Twitter to turn over the identities behind numerous accounts he said harassed and defamed him. The lawsuit is separate from Nunes’ work on the House Intelligence Committee, where he is now the ranking member.

“Twitter is a machine,” Nunes’ personal attorney, Steven S. Biss, told Fox News. “It is a modern-day Tammany Hall. Congressman Nunes intends to hold Twitter fully accountable for its abusive behavior and misconduct.”

Although federal law ordinarily exempts services like Twitter from defamation liability at all levels, Nunes’ suit said the platform has taken such an active role in curating and banning content — as opposed to merely hosting it — that it should face liability like any other organization that defames.

“Twitter created and developed the content at issue in this case by transforming false accusations of criminal conduct, imputed wrongdoing, dishonesty and lack of integrity into a publicly available commodity used by unscrupulous political operatives and their donor/clients as a weapon,” Nunes’ legal team wrote. “Twitter is ‘responsible’ for the development of offensive content on its platform because it in some way specifically encourages development of what is offensive about the content.” Read more HERE.

RNC Marks St. Patrick’s Day With Mugshot of Beto O’Rourke in a Leprechaun Hat and ‘Please Drink Responsibly’ Message

by Josh Siegel

The Republican National Committee mocked “noted Irishman” 2020 presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke with a St. Patrick’s Day “special message” that drew stern criticism from conservative figures.

In a tweet Sunday, the GOP linked the 46-year-old’s 1998 drunken driving arrest to his Irish heritage.

“On this St. Paddy’s Day, a special message from noted Irishman Robert Francis O’Rourke,” the post said, which featured his mugshot with a leprechaun hat atop his head, along with the message “Please drink responsibly.”

CNN is Determined to Turn Fake News Into Truth.

ANGELA WEISS/AFP/Getty Images

CNN continues to lie to its views [sic] in the United States and around the world about what President Donald Trump said about the riots in Charlottesville, Virginia, in August 2017.

As Breitbart News has explained repeatedly, and as CNN’s own coverage at the time showed, Trump used the phrase “very fine people” to describe non-violent protesters on either side of the debate over a Confederate statue — and specifically excluded the neo-Nazis, whom he “condemned totally.”

Yet for the past several weeks, CNN has reported that Trump was referring to neo-Nazis as “very fine people” in Charlottesville. CNN is now using the Charlottesville lie to implicate Trump in the terror attacks against two mosques in New Zealand on Friday.

On Friday evening, host Don Lemon played a deceptively edited video clip of President Trump’s press conference from Trump Tower on August 15, 2017.

Lemon introduced the clip by saying, “Nobody has forgotten — nobody has forgotten — what he said after that deadly white supremacist riot in Charlottesville.”

He then cut to a clip of Trump saying, “You also had people that were very fine people on both sides. You had people in that group — excuse me, excuse me. I saw the same pictures as you did.”

Lemon left out that Trump had made clear he was not talking about the neo-Nazis: “I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally.” He also failed to explain that, as CNN itself reported at the time of the press conference, Trump was referring to people “that were there to protest the taking down, to them, of a very, very important statue and a renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name.” Read more HERE.

Maduro Caracas-es The Whip

The old Bolshevik mare just ain’t what she used to be, and she never was.

That’s because socialism doesn’t work and it never has. It starts with cries of ‘equality’ and ‘free stuff’ and ends in misery, despair, and tyranny.

This is not hard to figure out. Nobody wants to work for free and there is no such thing as a free lunch. Someone has to pay for that lunch. Farmers must grow crops and raise cattle. That food must be processed and shipped. Bakers have to bake the bread. Stores and restaurants work to prepare and serve that lunch. It all takes time, effort and labor. If it were free, there would be no incentive for anyone to provide it. Read more HERE.

President Trump Mocks ‘Amazing Breed’ of Never Trumpers, Slams ‘Almost Deranged’ ‘Poor Bastard’ George Will

by Alexander Marlow, Matthew Boyle, Amanda House & Charlie Spierling

President Donald Trump mocked Never Trumpers in an exclusive, more-than-40-minute interview with Breitbart News in the Oval Office on Monday afternoon, calling them a nearly dead, “amazing breed” of political figures. Trump added, however, the ones who are left are still “slightly dangerous.”

“The Never Trumpers, that’s an amazing breed. First of all, they’re on mouth-to-mouth resuscitation now,” Trump said in response to a question from Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alexander Marlow on his thoughts on Never Trumpers. “There aren’t many of them left. But they’re still slightly dangerous.”

Trump’s comments on Never Trumpers in the Breitbart News exclusive interview went further than a line he first rolled out in his speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) hosted by the American Conservative Union (ACU) a little over a week ago, where the president spoke for a record two-plus hours.

“Everyone in this great country, right now, because of our great new economy, is doing well — except, of course, for the Never Trumpers,” Trump said in the CPAC speech. “But they are on mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Mouth to mouth. Mouth to mouth. They’re hanging in. A couple of them. I mean, these guys have gotten me wrong. Not only Never Trumpers. You have Never Trumpers; you have certain hardline. They’re basically dishonest people — because, look, let’s face it: Whether you like me or not — if my name is Smith instead of Trump, and if you told him I put in over 100 federal judges — it’ll soon be 145 federal judges and two Supreme Court judges. (Applause.) And 17 appellate division judges.” Read more HERE.

Tucker Carlson Vows to Never Bow to the Leftist Mob

Tucker Carlson: We will never bow to the leftist mob’s attempts to silence us, no matter what.

As anyone who has ever been caught in its gears can tell you, the great American outrage machine is a remarkable thing. One day you’re having dinner with your family, imagining everything is fine. The next, your phone is exploding with calls from reporters.

They read you snippets from a press release written by Democratic Party operatives. They demand to know how you could possibly have said something so awful and offensive, and ask something like, “Do you have a statement on how immoral you are?” It’s a bewildering moment, especially when the quotes in question are more than a decade old.

There’s really not that much you can do to respond. It’s pointless to try to explain how the words were spoken in jest or taken out of context, or in any case, bear no resemblance to what you actually think or would want for the country. None of that matters. Nobody cares. You know the role you’re required to play. You are a sinner that needs the forgiveness of Twitter.

So you issue a statement of deep contrition. You apologize profusely for your transgressions. You promise to be a better person going forward with the guidance of your contrition consultants. You send money to whatever organization that claims to represent the people you supposedly offended. Then you sit back, and brace for a wave of stories about your apology, all of which simply provide a pretext for attacking you again.

In the end, you get fired, you lose your job. Nobody defends you. Your neighbors avert their gaze as you pull into the driveway. You are ruined. And yet, no matter how bad it gets, no matter how despised and humiliated you may be, there is one thing you can never do — one thing that is absolutely not allowed. You can never acknowledge the comic absurdity of the whole thing. You can never laugh in the face of the mob.

Since the day we went on the air, they [the left] have been working hard to kill this show. We haven’t said much about it in public; it seemed too self- referential. The point of this show has never been us. But now, it’s obvious to everybody. There is no pretending that it is not happening. It is happening, and so, going forward, we’ll be covering their efforts to make us be quiet.

Nick Sandmann’s Lawyer Reveals CNN is Next Target for Lawsuit — the Amount is Staggering

John Greim/LightRocket via Getty Images

First, it was the Washington Post. Now, attorneys for Nick Sandmann — the 16-year-old Covington Catholic High School student unfairly targeted by the mainstream media in January — say CNN is the next target for a defamation lawsuit.

What are the details?

In an interview with Mark Levin that will air on Fox News Sunday, lawyer L. Lin Wood characterized CNN’s coverage of the Covington controversy in general, and on Sandmann in particular, as “more vicious in its direct attacks on Nicholas than the Washington Post.”

“Now you say you’ve seen the tape, if you took the time to look at the full context of what happened that day, Nicholas Sandmann did absolutely nothing wrong. He was as I’ve said to others, he was the only adult in the room,” Wood explained. “But you have a situation where CNN couldn’t resist the idea that here’s a guy with a young boy, that make America great again cap on. So they go after him.”

“They were vicious. It was false. CNN will be sued next week and the dollar figure in the CNN case may be higher than it was in the Washington Post,” Wood added.

When asked when the suit will be filed, Wood said Monday, March 11.

“Monday is the present plan,” Wood said. “I’ve got some young smart lawyers that are working hard as we speak. Double checking and listen when we file complaints, we’ve investigated it because we want to get it right. Maybe CNN can learn from that.” Read the rest and watch video at theblaze.com.

NYT Says Border at ‘Breaking Point’ 1 Month After ‘Fact Check’ Claimed No Emergency

by John Nolte

One month after claiming there is “no emergency” at the border, the far-left New York Times now concedes the border is at a “breaking point.”

In real time, as President Trump gave his State of the Union speech last month, the Times branded the president a liar over his claim that there is an “urgent national crisis” at our border.

“This is false,” the Times told its readers, using a non sequitur about individuals attempting to cross the border, while admitting — at the bottom of the fact check —  that a “record number of families have tried to cross the border in recent months.”

At the time, this phony fact check was widely ridiculed for its absurd attempt to hide the fact that a “record number of families” stressing the resources of our southern border does not somehow constitute a legitimate crisis, and now, almost exactly a month later, this very same Times is reporting our border is at a “breaking point.”

“The number of migrant families crossing the southwest border has once again broken records, with unauthorized entries nearly doubling what they were a year ago, suggesting that the Trump administration’s aggressive policies have not discouraged new migration to the United States,” the Times reports.
